For about 40 years my husband and I have dreamed of owning a little acreage on a lake. Even before we were married in 1970, we would sketch potential house plans. As native Texans we have driven our pontoon boat on almost every lake in Texas, viewing lakefront properties. Possum Kingdom is our favorite, because of its clear water and dramatic cliffs, but properties have always seemed out of our price range.
Then we saw an ad about the Hills Above Possum Kingdom and, just for the fun of it, made an appointment to check it out. Jason Raye met with us, asked about our preferences and goals, and truly listened to our answers. He showed us properties that fit both our dream and our budget. He was informative and let us walk around multiple properties, never pressuring us. We fell in love with a 2-acre parcel with a creek and bluff across the back and a view of the lake from the front.
Thanks to Jason's help, we purchased our "dream" property before the end of 2009. Since then, we go there as often as possible on weekend escapes from Dallas, to clear the area down by the creek, to envision and work toward the property's full potential, to see and hear little waterfalls along the creek, and to absorb nature's amazing "hill country" beauty.
It's ours! We're thrilled! At age 59, we are beginning to prepare for retirement and hope to build a home someday on our 2 acres. We highly recommend the Hills Above Possum Kingdom to anyone with a dream of property ownership in an ideal gated subdivision overlooking the most beautiful lake in Texas!

I grew up in Breckenridge, Texas about 30 to 45 minutes (depending which side of the lake you were going to) from Possum Kingdom Lake in Palo Pinto County…the beautiful Brazos de Dios.
During the many years I spent away from Breckenridge, I took up the sport of scuba diving. It was so wonderful to find out that I was to do my check-out dive in Possum Kingdom lake…full circle.
I have been back in this area since 1997 taking care of my mom and attempting to “make plans” for my future after mom doesn’t need me anymore. I have always wanted a quiet, interesting and inspiring place in the country to feed my creative side. I thought…what a better place than Possum Kingdom lake…I love the lake and the land around it is beautiful.
I started “the hunt” about 1.5 – 2 years ago. I received an email from Southern Lakes and Leisure advertising The Hills Above Possum Kingdom. I made an appointment to see a lot, but it didn’t strike a note with me…beautiful…just not for me.
I gave up hunting for awhile and trusted God to give me what I needed when I needed it. My philosophy is He puts opportunities in my life and it’s up to me to explore them.
In late March or early April of this year I received an email from Southern Lakes and Leisure about another lot with a fishing pond; I didn’t do anything about it. Several weeks later I received still another email offering a lakefront property; I decided God was talking to me and I’d better pay attention…so I called and made an appointment to see the lakefront property. While I had SLL on the phone, I asked if the fishing-pond lot was still available; I was told it had been sold, but that very day had come back to them and was available for viewing.
I kept my appointment, spent several hours with a very nice young man and was shown the two lots and all the amenities that come as a result of being a property owner in this community. The lakefront lot was beautiful, but again…not for me. Last but definitely not least I was shown the fish-pond lot…my lot! It fit all the criteria…quiet, interesting and inspiring with ready access to my beautiful Possum Kingdom lake.
God’s hand? I choose to think so.

I am writing to thank you for selling beautiful lake property at a reasonable price, and for employing a wonderful staff. I have spent many vacation days and weekends during the last ten years searching for the "perfect piece" of Texas hill country property on which to retire. Until recently my search was limited to Kerrville, Fredericksburg, LLano, Beorne, and Bandera. I discovered an ad for Sunset Shores by accident after clicking on a National Land Partners "find land" ad on the Southern Log Homes website. When I called the phone number for Southern Lakes And Leisure, Caramie Perry was very friendly and helpful, and quickly put me in contact with your sales consultants.
I wish to personally thank Barry Smith, who took the better part of two days in some of the worst weather of the winter, and showed my wife, daughter, and I around Sunset Shores, and "The Hills" properties. Barry did not hesitate to walk all the properties with us, even as we endured the snow, sleet and icy slush and mud. Barry was very friendly, knowledgeable of all the properties, and created a very comfortable no-pressure atmosphere.
One of the properties Barry showed us was a beautiful five acre corner homesite which I realized was the piece of property I had long searched for. This piece was listed at a very reasonable price that even a Texas peace officer could afford. All of the SLL staff continued to be extremely helpful when explaining financing options, and have made themselves available to answer my many questions even after the sale. My eight year old daughter is very excited about living near beautiful Possum Kingdom Lake, and swimming in the "awesome" swimming pool at the new clubhouse.
In my experience, SSL conducts business in a very honest, trustworthy way and I would highly recommend SSL to anyone looking for beautiful lake property.

My family and I were looking for properties in the Fort Worth, TX area to invest in for our kid’s future ever since we moved to Fort Worth from Southern California in March 2006.
All I’ve kept hearing for 2 years was about Possum Kingdom Lake and how beautiful the water and landscape is and how it is the best lake in Texas. I’ve heard about it from my friends and my brother who has been on the lake several times.
I was reading the paper in November 2006 and I saw an ad for The Hills Above Possum Kingdom Lake where you can buy acreage for a very good price. I was thrilled and I called right then to schedule an appointment.
When we arrived at the sales office in Graford, TX we were greeted by Jeff Riss. Jeff was a great help and really had our best interest at hand. He was able to assist us in buying 2 properties at almost 17 acres. We were so impressed with the service and the beauty of the unique landscape and PK Lake that I referred my parents who also moved here from Southern California.
My parents fell in love with the community and bought a property from Jeff. They were also looking for a place to vacation and a few months after they bought their first lot they bought another property from Vince Cutaia.
Vince had helped us on numerous occasions. He has kept me up-to-date on all the latest activities and developments within our community. Vince has always returned my calls and emails with enthusiasm. I enjoy speaking with Vince on a regular basis.
